Preparing for your new puppy!
Questions and Answers
What type of food will I need? The Breeder will have supply a sample of the type of food they have the puppy on. We recommend using the same food or using the sample of food they provide to mix with whichever food you prefer to change the puppy over to.
What Vetwork will I need to get done? We recommend you set up a wellness checkup for the puppy shortly after the date you will be bring the puppy home. This will get your Vet up to date on what shots the puppy has already received and get them scheduled for further vaccinations and continued de-wormings. The Breeder will have the information wrote out that you will need to show your Vet to get them updated on what they need.
Will the puppy be Potty Trained? You will likely need to expect to use Pee Pads for your new puppy for awhile, as they should not be allowed out on the soil until they have received their complete course of vaccinations, which would be at 12 weeks of age. This is because of the dangers of getting Parvo from the soil. They are not fully protected for this until they complete their full vaccination series.
What sort of things will I need to buy before the puppy comes? We suggest Pee Pads, Water and food bowls, a dog bed, a crate or playpen, toys (no rope toys as they can digest the rope and clog up their intestines)
Can't I just let the puppy sleep in bed with me? We expect that eventually you may want the puppy to be up in bed with you, but they will need to be a bit older before that is advisable. Your new puppy does not understand what height is, and could fall off the bed and seriously injure themselves!
